your post reminds me of something that a friend told me about... finding blessings in misfortune. one example would be getting a parking spot that is in BFE. so you've got yourself a long walk BUT it is a testament to the fact that you can INDEED walk. "a blessing in disguise" ... for me, it was being fired from my job stateside. i was just watching a movie last night called THE BOONDOCK SAINTS. the priests blasta "good men for doing nothing" as he cites the murder of KItty Genovese (a well known murder that happened in NY). indifference can be a scary thing indeed...
ReplyDeleteHi! indifference i think is what we fall into when we embrace what thomas paine nicely described as the "stale calm of utopia" it appears like utopia because you're not bothered by the ugly things that are happening and so there's an illusion of inner peace ... but it could be simply cowardice and laziness. i worry sometimes that i do not have the courage to leave my little utopia and pursue the path of uncertainty which holds the promise of greater significance and meaning. so this prayer kinda jolted me.
